Deep Summer, Now Turning Toward Fall

Two Waterfront Sites Still Open on the Cove

Late July on the Tennessee River is doing exactly what it does best right now — warm water, long evenings, a fire going most nights once the heat breaks. We're still out west chasing our own adventures (more on that below), but Hidden Oasis keeps humming along without us, which is honestly the best sign a place is working the way it should.


A quick availability update: we've got three waterfront/cove sites available for short-term or seasonal stays this summer. Our wooded, long-term sites remain full — every one of them's got someone calling it home these days, which still feels like a real milestone for us.

Behind the Scenes

Rain Forests, Lighthouses, and a View Worth Being Scared For

We've covered a lot of ground since we last wrote to you — down through the Olympic Peninsula, out to the Washington coast, and now along the Oregon coastline, where we're currently parked at a little spot called Seal Rock.


The highlight of the Olympic Peninsula leg was the Hoh Rain Forest — moss-draped old growth, filtered green light, the kind of quiet that's hard to find these days. We hiked both the Hall of Mosses and Spruce Nature Trail and loved every minute. Bucket list, fully checked off.


From there we made our way down to Astoria, where the Cape Disappointment lighthouse stopped us in our tracks — dramatic cliffs, sweeping views over Deadman's Cove, and enough distance from the edge that even Josee, who isn't always a fan of heights, could enjoy it without white knuckles.



Now we're on the central Oregon coast, and this stop gave us the opposite kind of moment. Cape Perpetua is stunning — but the trail runs right along the edge with barely any buffer, and it was a real test for Josee's nerves. She went anyway. The view was worth every uneasy step, and honestly, that's most of what this life has taught us: the best things are usually just on the other side of something a little uncomfortable.


Low tide has been the real treat here, though — up early two mornings in a row to explore the tide pools before the water came back in. Simple, quiet, exactly the kind of morning we love.


We're still a good stretch from home, but every mile out here reminds us why we love coming back to the cove. ❤️🤍💙

Three Ways to Spend Late Summer Nearby

August brings a nice mix of local flavor to the area — two county fairs and a lakeside evening on Pickwick, all within easy reach of the cove.


Decatur County Fair Tuesday, August 18 – Saturday, August 22, 2026 Decatur County Fairgrounds, Parsons, TN ~25 miles from Hidden Oasis


A classic county fair — rides, livestock shows, exhibits, and small-town charm, just up the road in Parsons.


Explore Pickwick Paddle & Give Me S'more of Hardin County Saturday, August 8, 2026

Pickwick Landing State Park, Counce, TN ~30 miles from Hidden Oasis

Part of the "Hangout with Hardin County Tourism" series. A free, ranger-guided kayak paddle on Pickwick Lake at 7:30 PM, followed by a campfire s'mores gathering at 8:30 PM celebrating National S'mores Day. All ages welcome; join one activity or both. Registration required — links below.


Hardin County Agricultural Fair

Friday, August 28 – Saturday, September 5, 2026

Hardin County Fairgrounds, Savannah, TN

~20 miles from Hidden Oasis


Established in 1859, this one's been bringing family fun, farming traditions, and community pride together for over 160 years. Rides, livestock, exhibits, and a real taste of local tradition.

If this is your first time joining us, we’re Josee & Tony — fellow RVers and the owners of Hidden Oasis at White Oak Landing. We built our campground around the things we value most when we travel: peace, nature, and a welcoming, low-key atmosphere.
