Cooler Mornings, Quieter Water
Fall on the Cove
Fall settles in slowly on the Tennessee River. The mornings get a little cooler, the fog sits low over the cove until it burns off, and the evenings are just right for a fire. It's one of our favorite stretches of the year, even from a few states away.
Everything at Hidden Oasis is running as usual, and one thing's actually opening up: a long-term wooded site becomes available October 1 as a tenant moves on. If you've been looking for a long-term spot with us, now's the time to reach out. Our cove sites are mostly short-term stays — the live calendar on our website shows what's open there. Just hit Book Now at hiddenoasiswhiteoaklanding.com, or call or text us at 860-202-0116. ❤🤍💙

From Zion Country to Sedona
Behind the Scenes
Since the last update we've spent a few weeks in the red-rock country of southern Utah and northern Arizona, and it has been a good run.

Kanab was our home base for two weeks. From there we did a guided hike up the Watchman Trail in Zion with Barbara from Zion Guru (she was extraordinary, and we'd hire her again), walked the Tower Bridge Trail at Bryce Canyon on a beautiful day, and took a short guided hike through Peekaboo Canyon. We also ate at Rocking V Cafe twice, which tells you how it went.

We also made it to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon: Point Imperial, then Cape Royal and Angel's Window. The views were beautiful, and the drop at Angel's Window was a little intimidating. We were there just before flash flooding hit Bright Angel Creek below, and it's stayed with us since — three men lost their lives in that flooding. Our hearts go out to their families. It's a sobering reminder of how fast conditions can turn in canyon country.

Then on to Page, Arizona. We drove the Marble Canyon loop to Horseshoe Bend, Lees Ferry, and Navajo Bridge, took a boat tour into Antelope Canyon, and finished with a guided tour of Antelope Canyon X with Taadidiin Tours. The guide was great, and the slot canyon lived up to the pictures.
We're now in Sedona, where a Jeep tour through red rock country is already behind us, with plenty more still to see. ❤🤍💙
